Before connecting this printer to the network, confirm the following two items, (A) and (B).
(A) Access point or router (supporting IEEE802.11b/g/n)
An access point or router is a relay device which connects not only the Internet and network devices such as a computer or printer, but also one network device to another.
So, your access point or router must be properly set before you go to the next setup step.
(B) The computer to be used with the printer must be connected to the network.
In order to confirm whether the computer to be used with the printer is connected to the network, try to browse the Internet website from the computer.
In most cases, you can use the printer in wireless connection using this setup method.

Before Starting Wireless Connection Setup
1. Hold down the Wi-Fi button (A) on the printer until the Alarm lamp (B) flashes 2 times, then release the Wi-Fi button after the second flash.
2. Make sure the Wi-Fi lamp (C) flashes quickly and the POWER lamp is lit as shown below.
Now, the printer is ready for wireless LAN connection in the "Cableless setup" method.
The printer is not yet connected to an access point. To complete the connection, you need to install the software.
Install the software.
1. Visit http://canon.com/ijsetup/.
2. Select your region, printer name, and computer OS.
3. In the Product Setup section, click Download. The setup file will be downloaded.
4. Double-click the downloaded .exe file.
The setup will start automatically. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete installation.
5. Click [ Next ].
6. Click [ Wireless LAN Connection ].
7. Click [ Access Point Connection (recommended) ].
8. Click [ Next ].
9. Click [ Cableless setup ].
10. Click [ Next ].
Follow any on-screen instructions to proceed with the software installation.
11. When the Setup Completion dialog box appears, click [ Complete ].
12. Click [ Next ].

13. Click [ Exit ] to complete the installation.
14. Quick Menu starts.
The wireless LAN connection of your printer to the access point in the "Cableless setup" method is completed.
1. Visit http://canon.com/ijsetup/.
2. Select your region, printer name, and computer OS.
3. In the Product Setup section, click [ Download ]. The setup file will be downloaded.
4. Double-click the downloaded .dmg file.
5. Double-click the [ Setup ] icon.
6. Click [ Next ].
7. In the subsequent screen, enter the administrator name and password. Then click [ Install Helper ].
8. Click [ Next ].
9. Click [ Wireless LAN Connection ].
10. Click [ Access Point Connection (recommended) ].
11. Click [ Next ].
12. Click [ Cableless setup ].
13. Click [ Next ].
Follow any on-screen instructions to proceed with the software installation.
14. Click [ Add Printer ].
15. Select [ Canon xxx series Canon IJ Network ] and click [ Add ].
16. Click [ Next ].
17. Click [ Next ].

18. Click [ Exit ] to complete the installation.
Remove the Setup CD-ROM and keep it in a safe place.
19. Quick Menu starts.
The wireless LAN connection of your printer to the access point in the "Cableless setup" method is completed.
When the access point or the router you are using supports the WPS function, you can use this setup method to connect the printer in a wireless connection.
Confirm that the access point or the router you are using has the WPS button.
Before Starting Wireless Connection Setup
1. Make sure that the button on the access point is ready to be pressed.
2. Hold down the Wi-Fi button (A) on the printer until the Alarm lamp (B) flashes once, then release the Wi-Fi button after the flash.
3. Make sure the Wi-Fi lamp (C) flashes quickly and the POWER lamp (D) is lit as shown below, and press and hold the button on the access point within 2 minutes.
4. Make sure that the Wi-Fi lamp and the POWER lamp are lit.
The wireless LAN setup using WPS is completed.
Install the software.

After checking the points described below, wait for a while and configure wireless connection settings again.
- Press the button on only one access point.
- Check the security settings of the access point.
Is the network device (router, etc.) turned on? If the network device is already turned on, turn it off, then turn it back on.

- Are the computer and network device configured?
- Are the access point and printer installed in an open space where wireless communications are possible?
- Is the access point operating in IEEE802.11n (2.4 GHz), IEEE802.11g or IEEE802.11b?
