Leading industry partners join forces once again to host the esteemed competition honouring young creative talent
London, UK, 2nd December 2024 – Canon UK&I and CVP, one of Europe's leading resellers and providers of professional video and broadcast solutions, are proud to partner for the third consecutive year, as they aim to uncover exciting young creative talents and filmmakers through their 2025 Stories in Motion competition.
Following the outstanding success of the Awards over the past two years, the CVP and Canon Stories in Motion Awards continue to inspire creativity among young Content Creators, Filmmakers and Cinematographers aged 18 - 25. The competition is accepting entries from 02 December 2024 to 31 March 2025, offering participants the chance to win a range of exciting prizes, including a Canon EOS C80, high-value vouchers to spend at CVP, and the unique opportunity to spend the day shadowing an acclaimed judge of their choice, renowned for their award-winning cinematography and filmmaking achievements over the years.
The 2025 competition introduces a new category, Commercial - addressing an increasingly popular medium for young filmmakers alongside Documentary, Music Video and Fictional Short. The competition invites all individuals aged 18 - 25 with a passion for storytelling and cinematography to participate. Entrants can submit up to four films, each corresponding to one of the four categories, and their work will be judged by a distinguished panel of seasoned filmmakers.
The panel includes:
• Elisa Iannacone – Canon Ambassador, Cinematographer, and Photographer
• Tania Freimuth – Canon Ambassador, Cinematographer, and Filmmaker
• Ollie Kenchington – Award-winning Filmmaker, Editor, and Colourist
• Jake Ratcliffe – CVP’s Technical Marketing Manager
The judges will pick three entries to be shortlisted per category, with one winner for each category and one final overall grand prize winner, all based on originality, creativity, cinematography and post production. Each shortlisted entry will receive a £200 voucher to spend at CVP, and the overall category winners will win an additional £500 voucher with CVP. The grand prize winner will receive in addition, a Canon EOS C80 and RF 24-70mm F2.8L Lens, as well as a Tilta Pro Filmmaker Kit worth over £1,500 and a one day experience on set with a judge of their choice.
On top of these exciting prizes, CVP and Canon are thrilled to announce an additional celebration, that all shortlisted entrants will be invited to a special Open House event at CVP Fitzrovia on the day of the awards ceremony. The event will be followed by a screening of their films during the exclusive awards ceremony held at a prestigious venue in London on Thursday 24 April 2025, once again hosted by British television presenter Alex Zane.

Elisa Iannacone
Canon Pro Ambassador, Cinematographer & Photographer
Cinematographer, author and speaker Elisa has worked across six continents for outlets including BBC World, National Geographic and Newsweek. Her documentary and conflict work has informed her unique blend of journalistic storytelling and magical realism, addressing social justice issues with innovative multimedia. A Canon Ambassador and recipient of the Alfred Fried Peace Medal, Elisa’s work is displayed in international museum collections and showcased at major global exhibitions.
Tania Freimuth
Canon Pro Ambassador, Cinematographer of narrative fiction film and an experimental filmmaker
Tania is an acclaimed cinematographer of award-winning films and television dramas that continue to captivate global audiences, with works featured on the BBC, Hulu and Sky. A visual artist, educator and published photographer, Tania is a member of BAFTA and Illuminatrix.
Jake Ratcliffe
Technical marketing manager
Jake Ratcliffe is part of CVP’s resident technical team and a self-confessed camera nerd who gets far too excited about gear! Often referred to as the 'face of CVP,' you'll frequently find him on the CVP YouTube channel, testing and discussing the latest and greatest equipment.
Ollie Kenchington
Award-winning filmmaker, editor and colourist
Ollie is an award-winning cinematographer, editor and colourist, as well as a highly qualified and respected trainer. Ollie has run award-winning brand film agency Korro Films since 2008 and has had his work featured by Apple, BBC, ITV, Netflix and many others. Ollie is also a BAFTA Connect member and ambassador for several industry brands.
