Headquartered in Dundee, Tradeprint is a pioneer of mass print customisation and has recently celebrated its 25th anniversary. The organisation is part of the wider Cimpress Group, which has also invested in Canon’s inkjet presses across a number of its European operations. Tradeprint produces printed materials such as booklets and brochures, large format prints and packaging for a wide range of customers across multiple sectors.
Tradeprint invested in the varioPRINT iX3200 in a bid to optimise its production workflows and improve its offset runs. The varioPRINT iX-Series combines outstanding image quality and an impressive media range with the high productivity and attractive cost-efficiency of inkjet. The installation has allowed Tradeprint to increase its production capacity and achieve higher quality prints for its customers at a much faster speed. The organisation has also been able to expand its range of printed booklets by leveraging the broad capabilities of Canon’s technology.
The installation is the first inkjet device for Tradeprint, which has been purchased to complement the company’s portfolio of offset production technology. Canon’s inkjet presses are developed with sustainability at the core, delivering a combination of environmentally credible benefits thanks to the use of ultra-long life piezo print heads, water-based pigment inks and lower energy consumption levels. The technology will support Tradeprint’s wider sustainability objectives, which include an ambition to achieve Net Zero emissions by 2040 –through initiatives such as investment in energy-reducing infrastructure and equipment.
Rod Scrimgeour, Operations Director at Tradeprint, commented: “Our experience with Canon has been nothing short of excellent and on a tight deadline, the team turned the installation around swiftly and professionally. Colour management is a key component of our business and we have been investing in systems which ensure that the colours and quality that our customers are demanding are delivered. The varioPRINT iX3200 supports this ambition and is also exceptionally reliable compared to many other devices. It’s easy to use, and our operators now have more flexibility to carry out other tasks whilst managing the machine.”
Stuart Rising, Head of Commercial Print at Canon UK & Ireland, said: “We are delighted with the results that Tradeprint has achieved through the varioPRINT iX3200. This device is the perfect match for companies who are looking for outstanding quality work, next-level productivity and extensive versatility. We’re looking forward to seeing how our technology will support this valued customer in the future.”
