FAQ’s

SUBSCRIPTION

What does a Universal Music for Creators subscription cover?
The Creator subscription is for content creators, streamers, influencers, or anyone creating content to publish on their personal channels. The plan gives you unlimited access to our music catalog and sound effects library, with clearance across your own YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, Twitch, and podcasting channels. With the Creator subscription, you can clear one channel per platform and monetize one YouTube channel.
The Creator Pro subscription is our commercial offering which allows you to use our music and sound effects for your own business or client work. This plan is best suited for freelancers, small businesses, and those making content for clients. It covers use on online platforms including YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, Twitch, podcasting platforms, and for digital ads (up to $3k per campaign). You can clear and monetize up to five YouTube channels with the Creator Pro subscription.

Is the music claims-free?
For you it is! You just buy a subscription, and we handle the rest. Claims-free music means that once you buy a subscription license, no further royalties are due to be paid by you for the use of the tracks. Any content published within the terms of the license will remain copyright claims-free. Claims-free does not mean that no royalties are paid to Universal Music for Creators artists and songwriters.

What happens to my channel if I stop my subscription?
You will continue to have access to our music and sound effects until your subscription is cancelled at the end of your current billing cycle. Any content you publish during your active subscription will remain cleared to monetize forever. Using our music and sound effects after your subscription ends any new content will be subject to claims. You can reactivate your subscription at any time to continue using our music claims-free.

What is a copyright claim on YouTube and how can I avoid these?
When you upload a video to YouTube, YouTube automatically scans the video for any copyrighted material. Copyright owners hold the authority to determine the course of action when their owned work is matched with content in a YouTube video. This claim simply recognizes the presence of copyrighted music and does not mean that your video cannot be published or that there is anything wrong. With an active subscription to Universal Music for Creators, content published within the subscription term will be free from copyright claims. For us to recognize your content as licensed through Universal Music for Creators on YouTube, it is important that you link your channel or video to your subscription license. You can do this once you purchase a subscription on the confirmation page or add this to the ‘Content ID’ section in your website account. If you have an active subscription but receive a claim, please check that the channel ID you have entered is correct. If everything looks right, then please get in touch through our website contact form detailing your email address, channel ID and Video ID.

Can I cancel at any time?
Yes. Please note that if you cancel before the end of your free 3 months, you will lose access to the service at the end of your current monthly cycle.

PROCESS

What is considered to be an acceptable proof of purchase?
SHOP PURCHASES: For in-store purchases Canon requires a copy of your receipt showing payment and the necessary product name information. The receipt must include the product purchased, the price you paid, the name of the retailer and the date of purchase.

WEBSITE PURCHASES: For online purchases Canon requires a copy of your order confirmation and the necessary product serial number information. The order confirmation must include the product purchased, the price you paid, the name of the retailer and the date of purchase. What formats can be used for uploading documents as part of the registration process and are there any size restrictions?

Where can I locate my product’s serial number?
The exact positioning of Canon serial numbers can differ from product to product. Please consult the following useful link to determine the general positioning of Canons serial codes for your specific product.
