What is a prime lens?
A prime lens has a fixed focal length. This makes them more compact and lightweight. A wide aperture lets in more light for low light conditions and offering better control over depth of field.

Are prime lenses better than zoom?
It comes down to preference. While telephoto lenses are more versatile, primes are more compact, tend to have a wider aperture, are better in low light and have sharper image quality.
