Life can be hectic. Whether you're a student, a keen photographer or papercraft enthusiast, part of a busy family or running a small business, keeping an eye on your ink cartridge levels probably isn't high on your list of priorities. Canon's PIXMA Print Plan can take care of all your ink supply requirements automatically, ensuring your printer always has ink when you need it, and save you up to 50% compared to the cost of buying replacement cartridges in-store or online.1

"The PIXMA Print Plan is all about ease of use," says Suhaib Hussain, Senior Marketing Manager, Canon Europe. "It tackles the whole issue of ink, so you don't need to worry about when you're going to need cartridges, which cartridges you actually need, where you're going to get them from and how much they'll cost. Everything is automatic – you'll simply get replacement cartridges delivered to your door, however often you need them.

"You can't always plan when you're going to need ink," continues Suhaib. "This subscription service will ensure you don't run out when you've got something important to print, whether it's a mortgage application or the children's homework. It takes all of the hassle out of buying ink."

The PIXMA Print Plan is effortless and cost-effective. You pay a fixed monthly subscription based on the number of pages you print per month. The printer monitors its ink levels and automatically orders the correct inks when they're getting low, delivered to your door. You pay nothing more for the inks or for delivery – it's all included in your monthly subscription, and there's even a recycling option. That's it! With the PIXMA Print Plan and a compatible Canon PIXMA printer, you always have ink when you need to print, you save up to 50% on the cost of ink, and you never have to worry about ensuring you have the correct ink – it's all taken care of.

With four subscription levels of the PIXMA Print Plan available, there are cost-effective options for printing 30, 60, 100 or 200 pages per month. So, whether you're an individual with more occasional printing needs or a busy family constantly pressing Print, there's a plan to suit you.

How does the PIXMA Print Plan work?

1. Choose the right plan for you

If you buy a PIXMA Print Plan compatible Canon printer or already have one, simply choose a plan that best suits your needs, based on your expected monthly print volume – see below. It's free to enrol, and you can swap to a different plan at any time if your print needs change.

2. Activate your printer

Follow the instructions to activate the service as part of the driver software installation or as instructed in the service sign-up emails. You can even access the registration screen directly via the Canon PRINT app on your smartphone or tablet. Once you've signed up, you'll receive a welcome pack with subscription-compatible ink cartridges with extra electronics that enable the printer to monitor its own ink levels.2 Please note that your printer must be connected to the internet for the service to work – if it's not, it can't order the ink for you!

3. Get ink delivered to your door

The printer automatically orders ink when it starts getting low. Replacement inks are delivered to you at no further cost, meaning you’ll always have ink when you need it, save the hassle of checking on ink levels and ordering, and save money too.

4. Manage your subscription

You are in total control of your PIXMA Print Plan. Log into your Canon account and you can check your print usage, view all your billing, and more. You can upgrade (increase the number of included pages per month), downgrade (decrease the number of included pages per month) or cancel your plan at any time.

The PIXMA Print Plan frees you from any worries you might have about the amount of ink you're using. Instead, you can just print whatever you want, however you want it, without compromising on creativity or quality.

Page-based planning

A key aspect of the PIXMA Print Plan is that the various subscription options aren't dependent on how much ink you use. Instead, they're based on how many pages you expect to print on a monthly basis. So, if you want to print a lot of photos or images that require large quantities of ink per page, it's not an issue. That means kids can be as creative as they want with their homework projects and crafts – you don't have to worry about printing draft copies in black and white, or at a lower quality, as it's the number of pages you print that you're paying for, not the amount of ink used.3

"It changes the mindset about printing," explains Suhaib. "You can just print whatever you want without thinking about how much ink you're using."

With a compatible PIXMA printer connected to the internet via Wi-Fi, the smart service monitors ink levels while you're printing. When cartridges start to run low, replacements are automatically sent out to you, at no additional cost. There's no limit on the number of cartridges – you'll just receive them whenever you need them, without lifting a finger.

What's the right PIXMA Print Plan for me?

Choose from a range of monthly plans to suit your printing needs. Are you a hobbyist photographer printing the best of your latest photos for the family album or greetings cards? The Light home printing plan may be enough for you. An active family with lots of crafting projects and school assignments to print? You may want the Frequent home printing plan. Working from home, printing a steady stream of business documents every day? Whatever your requirements, there's a PIXMA Print Plan for you.

Name of plan Number of pages included per month
Light home printing 30
Moderate home printing 60
Frequent home printing 100
Home office printing 200

Flexible and worry-free

"It's all very flexible," explains Suhaib. "Any unused pages from one month are automatically rolled over to the next month. And there are no big fees to worry about if you go over your included pages in a given month – any additional pages are charged at a nominal fee per page, with no hidden surprises. If you feel the need for more or fewer pages per month, you can change your plan whenever you like online.4 You can also cancel your plan altogether at any time."

Full details of your account are available online, so you can keep track of how many pages you've printed in any given month and how many are remaining.

"Everything's very transparent," says Suhaib. "You'll get notifications and emails to keep you up to date with all the aspects of the plan and to acknowledge any changes you make, as well as letting you know when your new cartridges are on their way."

Printing pictures, graphics and photos can use a lot of ink. But because you're paying per page rather than by the amount of ink you use, you don't have to compromise your designs or printing choices in an attempt to save money.

How does the PIXMA Print Plan compare?

Canon also offers other discounts and helpful services online. Here's how they differ from the PIXMA Print Plan.

  • Repeat & Save: you can save 5% when you place repeat orders for ink or toner on Canon's online store. However, you are still ordering manually, where the PIXMA Print Plan takes care of the ordering for you, and at a much greater saving.
  • Auto-Ink Delivery: if you have a compatible printer,5 this automatically sends you ink whenever your printer starts running low, so you pay for inks only as and when they are ordered. With the PIXMA Print Plan, you also get ink delivered to your door when you need it, but you are only paying for the number of pages you print based on the plan you have chosen, no matter how ink-heavy they may be and how frequently you need replacement cartridges. You never pay for more ink, no matter how often you receive it, only your monthly subscription, at a cost saving of up to 50%.

Rewriting the rules

With its flexible subscriptions and page-based approach, the PIXMA Print Plan ultimately rewrites the rule book on printing. It means you can go ahead and print whatever you want, whenever you want, from family photos to papercraft projects to business documents, with confidence that your Canon printer is always ready, no matter how much or how little you print. Follow the handy video guide above to sign up today and enjoy hassle-free printing that also saves you money!

  2. The supplied ink cartridges have a different chipset to regular cartridges you'd buy off the shelf, linking them to your subscription plan and automatically monitoring your ink levels. The cartridges you're sent can therefore be used only with the printer you've set up on your subscription plan. However, if you cancel your subscription at any time, you can simply go back to using regular cartridges.
  3. All pages printed on your PIXMA Print Plan printer, regardless of size or ink coverage, are considered as one printed page. Printing on both sides of the page will be counted as two pages.
  4. An upgrade to your PIXMA Print Plan (increase the number of included pages per month) takes effect immediately. A downgrade (decrease the number of included pages per month) comes into effect at the end of the current monthly billing period.
