PPD Instore, located in the Netherlands, specialises in producing cardboard displays and packaging for retail and supermarkets. Their commitment to innovation and efficiency drives their continuous improvement in packaging solutions.

Demand for shorter lead-times

PPD Instore needed to shorten their production process to respond more quickly to customer demands. Relying on external offset printing was causing delays, especially for small runs and customised packaging.

To overcome this challenge, PPD Instore installed the Colorado UVgel Packaging Factory. This state-of-the-art system includes the Colorado printer with UVgel technology, a Jumbo roll feeder, an inline cutter and stacker table. This integration allowed PPD Instore to bring digital printing in-house. Whether for small or large quantities, they have the technology and expertise to deliver exceptional results, providing the flexibility to choose the optimal solution without compromising on quality.

PPD Instore building

Enhanced flexibility and faster turnaround

The Colorado allows PPD Instore to handle small print runs internally, eliminating the wait time associated with external offset printing. With the ability to print and laminate on the same day, PPD Instore can respond quickly to customer requests, significantly reducing lead times.

UVgel inks dry instantly and are compatible with manual die-cutting, ensuring high-quality prints that meet customer expectations. The flexibility to create exact mockups and personalised displays enhances PPD Instore's ability to meet specific customer needs with precision.

Printing packaging digitally on the Colorado is a no-brainer. With quick and flexible production runs that make short delivery times stress free.”

Pre-print corrugated packaging

Pre-print corrugated means digital printing on a liner material that is later laminated to a corrugated base substrate to create a high-quality printed package. The Colorado UVgel Packaging Factory achieves this in five steps:

  1. Fotoba Jumbo roll feeds in
  2. Printing on the Colorado with UVgel inks
  3. Cutting into sheets with Fotoba cutter
  4. Laminating sheets to corrugated sheets with, in this case, Lamina laminator
  5. Offline finishing

The modular construction of the UVgel Packaging Factory offers the flexibility to adapt to your workflows and business needs. From roll-to-sheet, roll-to-roll, roll-to-inline to Jumbo roll-to-roll.

Transforming packaging production

The Colorado UVgel Packaging Factory has transformed PPD Instore's packaging production, providing quick, flexible, and high-quality solutions. This partnership highlights the future of packaging, where digital printing meets the demands of modern retail efficiently and effectively.
